On the complaint of Amarjit Singh Sandhu, member of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Committee (SGSSGC), Dadar, Mumbai; actress Kangana has been booked under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Khar police station.
SGSSGC’s Amarjit Singh in support of Jaspal Singh Sidhu, President of Supreme Council Navi Mumbai Gurdwaras had first lodged complaint against Kangana at Khar police station on Sunday, on the day when actress had allegedly made objectionable posts on Instagram and Facebook.
The complainant had alleged that Kangana is ‘spreading communal hatred and targeting one community (Sikhs) in particular, insulting protesting farmers and freedom fighters’.
Earlier on Monday, a delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) lead by Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa had reached Mumbai and lodged complaint against Kangana and met Maharashtra home minister Dilip Wasle Patil and Mumbai West Region additional commissioner of police (ACP) Sandeep P Karnik to demand action against her.
On Monday, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar President Bibi Jagir Kaur had also demanded registration of case against Kangana and her immediate arrest.
While talking to TOI over phone, Amarjit Singh said, “When they had noticed the objectionable post of Kangana Ranaut, they had lodged complaint against her on Sunday and had also gathered outside her residence in Khar to protest. Finally, the Maharashtra police have registered a case against her on our complaint on Tuesday. We will pursue the case and ensure arrest of Kangana.”
In his complaint, Amarjit Singh told police, “Kangana used very disrespectful words against the Sikh community as wrote on her Instagram that –
khalistani terrorists may be arm twisting the government today….But let’s not forget the women prime minister (Indira Gandhi) ne inn ko apni jooti ke neeche crush kiya tha…No matter how much suffering she caused to this nation…she crushed them like mosquitoes at the cost of her own life…Lekin desh ke tukde nahi hone diye…even after decades of her death …aaj bhi uske naam se kampte hain yeh…inko vaisa hi guru chahiye….-”
Reacting to the registration of case against Kangana, MS Sirsa said, “Kangana was urged time and again not to make such statements against the Sikhs and protesting farmers but she did not refrain from spewing venom. We had also talked to her parents through a video call to ask Kangana not to utter such statrements. Khar police in Mumbai have registered a case against her. We will ensure that this case reaches its result and Kangana goes behind the jail and gets punishment. I thank all the Sikh bodies of Mumbai for supporting us and Maharashtra home minister Dilip Wasle Patil Ji for taking cognizance in our complaint.”
On Sunday, DSGMC had also written to the President of India to withdraw Padma Shri conferred on Kangana Ranaut.
