Birthday girl Suman Rao gets candid about her next step after Miss World. Read on!

The epitome of beauty and grace, Suman Rao, has inspired thousands of women in and around our country with her remarkable pageant journey and her extraordinary work to empower women! Today, as she celebrated her birthday, we got in touch with her to catch up on her plans following her international win as Miss World 2019 second runner-up and Miss World Asia 2019.

Suman, who has been busy with numerous modeling projects, reminisces her journey at Miss World, opens up on her future plans, her BWAP project, and more.

You garnered love and support from the entire country on winning the Femina Miss India crown and soon attained international glory by bagging an international title, so what’s next? Which field do you plan to explore and conquer?

I believe my next plan is to become an excellent actor and I’ve already started my training for the same. I’ve grown up watching Bollywood & Tollywood movies and have always admired the beauty of how movies create a massive impact on our society; it really has the power to bring about a change. And there is an added advantage of living a versatile life through the different kinds of characters one plays, and that’s another reason I want to be a part of this entertainment industry.

Let’s wait and see where what destiny has in store for me. Fingers crossed!

So now that you have revealed your passion for acting, how’s your preparation going?

It’s going really well. In fact, I’m loving the process of learning. I believe becoming an actor is in itself a way of finding yourself. You get to explore different versions of yourself and experience a variety of emotions. Yes, of course, it can be a little overwhelming at times, but that’s the beauty of this profession. So far, I’ve attended two workshops, one with Mr. Jogi Mallang Sir and one at Adishakti. The one thing that both these workshops have taught me is enjoying your character by giving life to it; by doing so, you’re not just acting or playing the character, you’re actually living one, and that makes it effortless.

Who is your favorite director/ screenwriter that you look forward to collaborating with?

I’ve said this in almost all of my interviews that I’m a huge admirer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Sir and to get to work with him is one of my dreams.

I also relish the work of Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Basu, Meghna Gulzar, and Akarsh Khurana, and if I get an opportunity, I would love to work with these directors!

Also, I loveee to dance! I used to imitate the dance steps I would watch in the Bollywood movies songs and replicate them in my childhood! I think that’s how I discovered my love for dance and later joined classes to learn classical dance forms.

I’m really looking forward to bagging an opportunity to deliver a beautiful dance sequence in SLB’s movie someday!

We have seen the real you, the sweet and humble Suman, during the pageant journey, but an actor needs to be versatile. So, which role would you like to play the most?

To be honest, I really don’t have a particular character in my mind that I would like to play, but I have a list of characters!

I would love to play a Geet from ‘Jab We Met,’ Naina Talwar from ‘YJHD,’ Piku from ‘Piku,’ Kajra from ‘Dear Zindagi,’ Safeena from ‘Gully boy,’ Rani in ‘Queen,’ Paro in ‘Devdas,’ Rani Padmaavati in ‘Padmaavat’ and so many more. These influential women characters have inspired me, and winning an opening to play such characters is a once-in-a-lifetime happening, and I wouldn’t miss it.

We have adored your entire journey and couldn’t be more proud of your efforts for women empowerment in Rajasthan, so how are your projects functioning amid the pandemic?

I must state that women are truly unstoppable; even under such unavoidable circumstances, they have a positive attitude and do not give up spirit. Apart from making handicrafts, they’re also helping the people in need by providing lunch boxes of their hand-cooked food, which is inspiring.

Also, we now have a PDKF store in Jaipur, and I request everyone to promote the beautiful products made by these incredible women for the PDKF store and extend your support by purchasing them.

With Miss World so close, do you recollect your journey?

I do, big time! At a point, I feel it’s been ages because of the lockdown, and on the other, I feel like it all just happened last night. So there are mixed feelings. I think of all the fun I had with my pageant sisters, and I even remember celebrating my 21st birthday with them. It’s all so different right now, but those days are going to be engraved in my memory forever.

Your successor Manasa Varanasi has begun her journey at Miss World. What message would you like to give her?

Whenever I had the chance to speak with her, I always told her to be herself, because only we know ourselves well, and nobody else does, so I asked her to reveal her beautiful soul on the stage in the best possible way so that people can learn about her abilities to contribute to society in whatever capacity. But she is already doing pretty great. I have been following her Beauty with a Purpose (BWAP) project and her #womenonamission drive with beauty queens who have administered a remarkable job during their journey.

I only wish the best for her, and I think she already knows what she wants to do, and that’s the best part of her; she has a profound clarity of her goal—rooting for the best!

We are incredibly in awe of our queen, and as she celebrates her birthday, we wish her nothing but the best for her future endeavors! Happy birthday, Suman!
